I'm an avid hillwalker. A member of the Oxford University Walking Club, the East Pennines Outdoors Club and by proxy the British Mountaineering Council.

I'm beginning to record all my longer walks on UKHillwalking.com, see my profile there. I'll also post reviews of various walking areas, courses, books and gear here.

Places I've walked and feel the need to waffle on and on about. Soemtimes with links to photos courtesy of more photographically adept friends.

And one long-distance trail.

  • Hillwalking by Steve Long

Courses I've been on / am booked on.

  • First Aid by George Fell. A great outdoors first aid course, fun instructor and plenty of hands-on practice to mitigate the powerpoint. REC 16 hr course, valid for mountain leader training courses. Course arranged specifically for OUWC, instructor prepared to travel, would recommend him to any walking club wanting to run a course.

  • WGL Training at Plas-y-Brenin -- going on 3/12/11, review after that
  • Winter Skills at Glenmore Lodge -- going on 6/2/12, review on my return

Reviews of bits of gear that I like / dislike or have saved my backside.
